For our marketing project, my group is in charge of Yaqua, a water bottle company that donates 100% of their utilities towards water projects in Peru. We divided ourselves into different groups with different goals and tasks. Overall we wanted to make Yaqua famous. We wanted to let people know about this small company that tries to make a small change for the poor people in Peru, specifically those in the highlands with scarce access to water. There was the pitch group, the social network group, and the video group. The pitch group had made an amazing progress. They made pitches to different establishments and did their best to persuade them into selling Yaqua bottles in their stores. Places such as Vivanda, La Esquina de La Planicie, and others, had already accepted. We were all amazed with their progress, young innovators had made such an amazing accomplishment like presenting a product to a company that eventually bought it. Like taking all they learned in "To sell is human" into practice and succeeding.
Here is where the video group comes in. I’m actually in it! And I’ve never really done one this serious before! Sure a class project where I use my iPhone camera to record and iMovie to edit.
We are divided into two smaller groups, the viral commercial video and the explaining video. I’m in the explaining video with Mendo where we introduce and explain what Yaqua is to the viewer, a completely new challenge for me. We are going to use cameras I have never used before, an editing program I didn’t know existed, and the Innovation studio to record all of this!! Here I’m totally out of my comfort zone because its totally new for me. I challenged myself into doing something I normally don’t do. I’m partners with Sebastian Mendo and hope to learn a lot about this. He is very into filming and movies so in sure he will be a good mentor for this new field I’m entering. I hope to learn more about this program called Premier where you can edit movies and Mendo has previously worked with.
On Monday we are planning to begin out shooting of the video. I’m very exited because I’ve never done this before and can’t wait to get started. I might lay low at the beginning following everything Sebastian says to get everything right. In addition I’m sure ill get some help from Gabriel and Alex who are pretty much experts in this field. I’m hoping that by the end of this project I will learn key things when it comes to making a video with a purpose and have the ability to edit it with a more sophisticated knowledge on filming.
