" I'm so bad!" That was what I was saying the whole morning before the Roosevelt Golf Tournament. it was just my third tournament and had almost no experience in a Shotgun tournament, where different groups started from different holes. I started in hole number 10 so I was really disoriented. Once the Gun is shot the tournament begins. . My first tournament went really bad for me and made my confidence go down hill in golf. In the Roosevelt Golf Tournament the first couple of holes i was not confident at all. I didn't listen to my caddy, Angel, who has helped me all the way in my golf experience, that i need to calm down a be confident, that i was going to do very well and was going to beat them all. But someone with a handicap of 28 isn't going to do that well when in his group there is someone with a handicap of 6. I felt very intimidated by his skills. I tried to match him but every time I did, my shots went from bad to worse. I dreamed about hitting that beautiful shot that would be both straight and long enough to see it disappear in the distance, however, that didn't happen during the first six holes. Sometimes, in my head, i would tell myself that this time i will succeed, i will hit it good enough to se it disappear, most of the time it didn't happen. There were some decent shots that lifted up my spirit for a bit but nothing more. "That is the wrong idea, you should ask yourself 'can I succeed?'" It was our class discussion we had on the new chapter on To Sell is Human! What my caddy was saying about me going to do well or that i will beat them all was the wrong idea, can't blame him because he was trying to help me. I had to ask myself if i was going to succeed in any way! Part of me of course said that i wasn't, but there was another that get optimistic, that which was held to that "foolish" dream of hitting the perfect shot. But i remembered that in our group discussion they mentioned "You might be good or bad at something, but you should always find a way to make it better, to make it more successful than it already is". Thats what I had to do, find a way to improve!!! Now I was listening to Angel. "Don't move your legs!""Look at the ball!""Don't jump""Use your hips""Rotate your shoulders""Don't grab the club too hard"..."Be confident!". That was all I needed, to find a way to improve.
It all began in hope number 17. Now I was starting to play real golf. Angel recorded my swing and as we walked we looked at my flaws. There can't become a profesional in 3 hours but you can certainly improve. Honestly, I improved so much I actually got in first place in my category!!! after hole 17 all i did was hit pairs and boogies! I even made a Birdie!! I was so happy and enthusiastic!! I just can't wait to play my next tournament and I know i need to improve a lot but in the end, all I had to do was listen and find a way to improve. I won in m
